Would like a better hole shot

just seeing if anyone had any ideas for a better hole shot. It is not bad now just looking to improve

What plugs do you have in the 28, and do you have a cav ring on the prop? Is the prop just slipping coming out of the hole or is it bogging down? You may need to down in pitch on your prop. A 28 Trophy may be great for top end, but not for holeshot on a tourney loaded rig, and it is a give and take. If you just want to run a 4 blade, go down to a 27.

I have two plugs in the prop. If I take the other two out it won't even take off. I know it is give and take and I am willing to give. I don't know about the cav ring. What exactly is that? It had this prop on it when I got it and I am willing to try whatever to help. I just have to watch my rpm's on this motor. Also any help with the backwash when slowing down? thanks

The cav ring goes over the barrel of the prop to help control excess exhaust gas. Going down in pitch to say a 28 Raker or a 27 Turbo TXP would be good prop choices. As far as the back wash, you have a couple of things that you can do to help it; add a skidplate to the bottom of your jackplate, place kickballs inside of your jackplate, and adding a foil to your motors cav plate or any combination of the 3. Learning to feather the trottle as you come off plane will help as well.

Thanks for the advice. I will try some of these things over the next couple of weeks. I may have to look you up for a prop but it would be nice to try one before I buy. Thanks again and I will keep you posted.
