180 Pro 150 HPDI Set-up

Just purchased a 180 Pro with a 150 HPDI and was curious about the set-up in relationship to the pad. I am coming out of a Stratos 285 with a 175. I am still in brake-in but I already notice coming out of the hole like a canon. The HPDI looks like it is really tucked under the boat unlike the 175 I had. I have a 6 " slidemaster jackplate which came on the boat which is a new 2007. Any Ideas?

Did anyone ever provide any help. I have a 2006 180 PRO V with a 150 Merc Optimax and I am having trouble getting the performance out of it. I have tried several Props, up with the motor, down with the motor. Currently running a Yamaha 25P and getting only 5100 RPM's. Anyone have any suggestions?

Both of you need to set your propshaft to about 1.5in. below the pad to start. Go up or down till you find the sweet spot or lose water pressure, gain rpm and lose speed. Always try to keep at least 15lbs. of water pressure at WOT. Gatman, you rig should have come with a 10in. plate standard.

I bought mine in Mississippi. You can take it from there. Once they got my money for the most part they didn't have time to fool with me. Sad part is my boat is out of warranty now and I having to do all this on my own. I have my prop in a shop now trying to get it to run right. I haven't been satisfied at all, very disappointed.

I have a 07 150 opti on a 180 prov and I am not happy with the motor. I think Mercury has governed this thing down to keep it from flying appart. I have got 60-63 mph out of it with a 25 tempest plus @ 5400 rpms. I have had to keep the motor low to maintain h2o pressure. Even after I added a factory piece that helped, I still can't raise the motor very high or at the slightest turn the water pressure will drop and the boat will come to sudden stop and you will get your back side wet. The thing that is the most discouraging is that 2 club memebers with 150 etechs on similiar size boats are getting 65-70mph. Go figure.... I thought Mercury's were supposed to be faster.

What kind of H20 pressure are you seeing at wide open? You've got some RPMs left in that motor as well, it'll turn up to 5750. What plate are you runnning? I'll ask Jeff what he thinks about your setup on Monday.

I feel your pain blublzr. I have the same trouble with my H20 pressure. I am only getting 14-15 psi with mine and I also lose pressure in the turns. I have also added the pieces to help pull the water in and it has helped some but you have to be careful or the alarms will sound. I can only get 5100-5200 rpm's wide open with the 25P prop and 61 is my top speed. I was beginning to wonder if it might have been the boat because I was having such a hard time getting on the pad. Not sure what else to do other than go down in pitch.

First, a 25in. pitch prop with a 150 is way to much prop. You need a 23 and that will cure your hole shot problems and get your rpms up along with adding some speed.

OK, I have tried a 23 tempest plus.....61 mph at 5700 rpms. Boat is running high and handles great need more top end speed. Should I try a 24 pitch?
