2170 Bay

I'm looking to buy a 2170 bay, and i'm not sure what motor to get. The 150 or 200, 2 or 4 stoke. Thanks for any input.

I have the Yamaha F150, does about 50mph and gets great fuel mileage in the 25-40mph range.

Motors are not motors, some crank out less than sticker others more. A few years ago I saw a dyno test of the Yamaha F150 at 163hp..

Suzuki has a 4stroke 175 4cyl thats looking sweet.

I have an '05 2170 with a 2stroke 150 yamaha that i bought used. It has a four blade prop, (not sure of pitch) it will top out at 47 mph loaded fuel, three people(about 650lbs) and gear. It's only 4800 on the tach wide open, so it's not working to hard. I thought about changing props for speed, but the hole shot and mid range power is really good and i don't want to mess with that. I cruise all day 4200rpm @ 40mph. Overall i'm happy with the rig. Everyone likes more power but it's all in what your pocket book can stand.

i also say, go with the larger engine. just because the engine is that much smaller, don't mean it will get a whole lot better mileage. if you can afford it, go bigger!

I have a 2007 2170 with a 175hp Zuki 4 stroke. I am running a 15x22 four blade prop and my top end is 54mph at 6000 rpms. I cruise at 4500 rpm and it uses about 5 mpg. The Zuki has a good hole shot.
