2220 Fisherman w/200 Yamaha vmax 2003

I purchased a 2220 Fisherman w/200 Yamaha vmax 2003 model last year. It tops out at 49mph on the gps (Full tank/2 people). It came with a 23P yamaha pro series prop (3 blade). Had it reworked to see if I could get better performance. No luck. Is this the correct prop for this set up? Fuel economy is not very good also. Should I be getting more speed? Thanks.

BBay37, that doesn't sound right but like was asked what's your rpm's at WOT? When I first got our 2003 they had a pro 21 prop on it and the thing would fly but that was with a jack plate and we could play with the height of the motor. There could be a number of things going on there as to why only 49 MPH with that 23. Check the topic below about the same boat and the comments

WOT is 5300 rpms. I do not run a jackplate.

no jack plate could be bogging you down a bit @ WOT. you should be running that dude up closer to 6000rpm. i do not really care for the yamaha props that much. you might try a mercury prop even in the same pitch, or go a little lower in pitch. if it is only running @ 5300 it isn't even producing maximum hp yet. find a dealer that will let you run a few if you buy from them. i love the tempest+
