should I Buy a 1960 or ??

I'm trying to find the best fit for my fishing needs. I primarily fish only freshwater lakes but some have large boat traffic. would like to try some bay fishing soon. I really like flats fishing but have only done so with a guide in a flats boat. I'm considering a used 2220 and a new 1960. I'm afraid the 2220 might be a little too big for bass fishing and to trailer around much? Haven't seen much feedback on the 1960. Are there many out there? thanks , Larry

I have a 2170 and really its kinda big to do a lot of bass fishing. I usually take it in lakes and some coastal fishing. The bayou is kinda small for the boat. I might feel differently if i had a foot control trolling motor. Im not a very big bass fisherman but occasionaly Ill try it when its rouph on the lake. I do like the size of the fishing area on the 2170. You kinda have to plan more with the larger boat.

I have a 1960 that I'm very happy with. I use it in Lake P and the Dulac / Cocodrie area and its does well both in the marsh and out at the islands. If you're doing a lot of freshwater fishing in enclosed bayous, a smaller boat can be easier to handle but at the (obvious) tradeoff of roominess. My 1960 comfortably fishes 3 people and can fish 4 if everyone knows what they're doing.

As far as other qualities, such as rough water handling, draft, and general build quality, I've been very satisfied. I have a Yamaha F115 on it (the boat is rated for up to 150) and I cruise at 3800-4000RPM at 29-31MPH. At that speed, I typically get 4-5MPG with 2 or 3 people on board, a full load of gear, and at least a half tank of gas.

The 1960 is a nice boat. With its 17 degree deadrise, it should take a decent chop for its size. Put a 150 on the back and it should fly. When I started looking at the Blazer bays, I started looking at the 2420, than 2220 and ended with the 2020. I fish solo alot because of my work schedule so I wanted a boat I could handle easyly by myself. The 2020 has a 13 degree deadrise and it will pound a little if you get off a 3' wave wrong. I was in solid 3' waves with probably a few 4's mixed in Tuesday in Lake Ponchartrain and it did pretty good.
