I was thinking real hard about the 2170 and I was wondering how do it perform in 2 3 footers. I also wanted to know some info on hp and is it a big difference between the Suzuki 175 and yam 150. This will be my first new boat and I will probably be going through crown Leisure Marine.

I love my 2170 . I have to bring it to Blazer for some glass work , fix that pesky leaking anchor drain . Even with that I have never felt like I messed up in buying this boat . This is my first big boat first new boat , so even yet I have slot to learn it stil has been a very rewarding experience . I bought mine from Crown Leisure , Philip will do ya right . He's a straight shooter . I got it with the Yam. 150 , 2 stroke , I think with that it has very good power to weight ratio . I'm happy with the fuel / mpg , but I wouldn't go with a smaller motor . In fact , I dream of putting a 225 , 250 on the back of there , that'd be an animal ! As far as rough water goes I had in big lake off the coast lst Tues. There might have been some 2 maybe 2 n half footers but it handled it very good , real dry ride other than the rain . Crossed the lake with just a little banging doing about 30 -35 mph . It was great !

Jpeeze I also purchased my 2170 from Phillip at crown leisure. I cannot comment on the difference's
since I have never owned a suzuki. I can tell you that I have the f150 4 stroke yamaha, and I have
been very pleased with the performance. The gas consumption is pretty good. I feel fairly certain I
average around 4.5-5 mpg. If you are concerned about enough power, its plenty. When I first got
my rig, before I had the trolling motor I had out on the river & with my gps I got up to 49 mph. I
backed off because there was a lot of traffic that day. Since I put my trolling motor on I get WOT
around 45-47 mph. Personally I think you would be probably be okay with either motor. From what
I have read, 25 hp is not a great difference in speeds.

As far as riding through rough waters, I have been very very pleased. I can take a 2-3 foot chop
& cruise fine around 28-32 mph & not get beat up. Plus its a fairly dry boat. If the wind is blowing
hard & its rough there is no such thing as a dry boat. I would see if there is any way you could try
out both rigs if possible.

Thanks for the help I will setup a date for a test drive with Phillip. I wish this oil thing will get over the only place to wade fish right now is cat island.

I can't comment on the 2170 but I do have the Suzuki 175 on a 2020 and that motor is great. The Suzuki is full of torque and very very quite. Pushes my boat 52 wot.

Now that's what I'm talking about . I like the Mercs. They got the shallow water intake , 2 holes ( I think it's 2 ) right in the front of the torpedo , good if ya got it on a jack plate . I might have gone with a Merc and possibly a larger motor but the Yam. fit my budget so well . I would love to put a 200 on the back of there , just like one ol boy who put a 225 on the back of his " I like to CRUISE at 50-55 ". Honestly though the 150 is plenty it's not sluggish at all .

I have a 2005 2170 with a Yam-150 2-stroke. I bought it new and still love it. The Starline trailer is a POS but if you're buying a new one this shoudln't be an issue since they went to a different brand. I still believe this is too much boat for a single axle trailer so keep this in mind. I haven't seen a new 2170 at my local dealer recently so I'm not sure if they're still pushing them out on single axles. I just repaired my cracked axle brackets a couple of weeks ago. Rewelded them myself. I would insist on a dual axle if I had to do this over again.

Speed and hole shot power are fine with my 150. If you're a speedster, yes, you'll get a few more MPH with the bigger motor but you're trailering that extra weight around as well. I had 5-adult males in my boat this past weekend with 2-full ice chests and a full gas tank. In smooth water and trimmed up I topped out at around 40 mph on my GPS. Plenty quick enough!

you have to get a tandem axle trailer for sure with this size boat dont let them change your mind and make sure you get a good fuel seperator racor clear bowl with a drain plug not a yamaha brand that comes with it.

Thanks for all the help. Now I am trying to decide between the 2170 and 2200 can't make up my mind. Any major
differences I know the hull is the same I mainly will be riding to the island to wade fish. Just won't to make right decision.
