2220 Trim Tabs

I am planning to install trim tabs on my 2220, but i am unsure what size would be best. I would appreciate comments from those of you running trim tabs on your 2220.

Lemco - 12" is what I had on my 2220 and they came on my new 2400 also. LOVE them!!!!

It sounds like I am having an issue with my Trim Tabs on my 2220 Pro. When I turn the key off, I continue to hear a winding noise for about 5 - 10 seconds coming from the actuator. Does this happen each time you turn off the boat? Not a good thing to get back in your favorite redfish hole, then this hidious noise starts! The noise occurs even when the actuator or tab is in the neutral position.

Sounds as if you have an automatic tab retractor.When the key is turned off, the tabs are retracted. The way some boats sit on their trailer, it could damage the tabs if they were left down. Any place that sells tabs usually sells these as an option. I wish I had one on my boat.

Could you measure your tabs for me? I am assuming 12" x9"?

Sorry for the late response...I was out Fishing! Yes, my tabs are 12"x9". I have talked to Lemco, you are correct...the Orange wire controls an auto retract for the actuator. If you have LED lights on your trim tab switch, this is not necassary as long as you remember to return the retractors to neutral. My Trailer and lift, are not impacted by the trim tabs, so I will most likely disconnect the Orange Wire. It's more of a preference, when you arrive at your favorite fishing hole, turn the motor off, and now you have the loud winding noise from the actuators. I don't know, maybe I will just get used to the noise.

As for installing trim tabs....I do recommend them. They really helped today when trying to get on plane in shallow water. When the boat if full of gas, 4 people, full live wells, and gear...My 200 Four Stroke seemed a bit sluggish in the neutral position. Put the bow down, throttle down, and off we GO.
