2200 Professional/300 Vmax

Looking at getting into a 2200 Professional and was wondering if anybody is running one with a 300 VMAX with 20" shaft. Have heard I need to go with a 25" shaft due to blowing out in turns with a 20" shaft.

I would get the boat with a hydraulic jack plate. I'm getting a 2220 fisherman with a z200 25".However, I'm still putting on a hydraulic plate. cost is about $850.00. Well worth the money.

i have the same boat & motor 20"shaft. i do not have any blowout problems at all, although i am running the 10" jackplate. i would imagine the boat you are looking at would be rigged simular. the cmc jack plate on mine is a POS, always having problems can't get support. i will be changing to the bob's 10" this spring. i do not know if you can get the same gear case (pointed w/high speed pick up) as i have in the 25". a shop should chime in and give you the low-down on that.

It is not possible to get a VZ300 in 25in, they only come in Long shaft aka 20in. I have not seen a 2200 rigged so I do not know what the exact set up on one would be but keep in mind if you put a 25in shaft on a boat that doesnt need one all you're doing is dragging an anchor.

the 2220 can be run with a short shafted motor but you must use a 10" jack plate......suggest a bobs

the 20" transom is the only downside to the 2220, i get swamped everytime i slow down quickly or have to backup in a slight chop. i have never been on a 2400 or 2420 to actually see the difference, but i would expect it to be a little better at keeping the water out. i also say the bob's jack-plate would be superior. i will be changing over this spring to bob's from the CMC 10", (turd)!!!
