flushing 2007 yamaha 2 stroke

Is it only nessessary to flush your 2 stroke yamaha with the hose attatchment below the upper cowling? Or do I need to run the motor with the lower unit fixed to a hose flushing it with water as well? Any imput would be appreciated. Thanks

It is always best to flush the whole motor via the lower unit ears but if you cant then yes you should atleast flush the powerhead with the attachment under the cowl (but do not run the motor when it is on that attachment only).
