blazer 19prov 1997 soft floor

my 1997 19prov has a soft floor near the drain. Is the flooring wood? is it reccommended to r&r remove and replace , if so is it acceptable to cut out the area and replace or replace the complete floor. i feel that i am not the only one with this situation
