where to place a Garmin remote antenna

I bought a new Garmin GPS and got a remote GA 29 antenna for next to nothing. This version can even be mounted flush, where the little pole on it is left off. Where is the best place to mount one. On the rail of the console is out of the question, in the way. Any other users advice?
