Birthday fun Sunday on the Beach. Max wanted to go fishing for his birthday. His dad Alan brought him, his brother Eli, and friends Gordy, Grant, James, and Rajan. Alan’s friend John jumped on to help with the kids. Capt. Mark took half the group and I the other. We fished in the Lake Machias area and the kids had a blast filling up the fish boxes on both boats with Trout, Reds, and Drum. We fished with Campo’s live shrimp both under a cork and on the bottom. Lots of fun was had by all and the kids took home gallon bags of fillets for party favors. My kind of party.

The fishing in Shell Beach is outstanding and the fall fishing is on fire. The next three months will be some of the best fishing of the year. There are still some open dates so book yours soon. Campo’s is open with fuel, live bait, ice, and two back down ramps. Nice and easy launching with helpful advice from the Campo’s is waiting for you. For your next fishing adventure call United Charters. Very nice over night accommodations are available. 504-439-1680.

Windy Tuesday last week on the Beach. Robert Perilloux brought down a group of nine fishermen for some Shell Beach fishing fun. Capt. Frank took four and the rest hopped in my boat. We fished the Biloxi Marsh with some windy conditions and plenty of water. Fishing with Campo’s live shrimp under a cork the action was non stop. The guys had a great time and caught lots of fish. Had to weed through some throwbacks, but the keepers were nice. Between both boats they had over 160 Trout and 20 reds with a few Drum mixed in.

Fun Wednesday on the Beach. I picked up Jim Walther and his guests Gary and Kelly at Jim’s camp. We headed over behind Hopedale in Lake Robin. We did not find any Trout, but did find some nice Puppy Drum. We then moved on and hit several spots with little to show for. We fished a lagoon off the Twin Pipeline and got on a good bite with Campo’s live shrimp under a cork. Somewhere along the line we must have run into some bad water that killed most our shrimp. Good thing the Trout did not notice. The guys had a great time and put together a nice box of fish, 75 Trout, 6 Drum, 2 Reds, and 1 Head.

Last Thursday’s report from the Beach. Fred Baker and his friends Terry, Bob, and Harry spent the night at Capt. Frank’s place Wednesday evening. We started out in Lake Borgne and on got a few Trout early, but the bite was short lived. There was no tide moving in the Lake or the Biloxi Marsh. We picked up a few fish here and there, but lots of throw backs. Got a call from Capt. Frank that he was on a good bite so we headed his way. The tide was finally moving and the corks were going down. The guys had a blast putting a nice box of Trout together till all of the live shrimp were gone and we called it quits.

Good day on the Beach today. After a stop by Campo’s for bait I picked up Jim Walther, Gram, and Darrel from Jim’s camp. We had a light SW wind and a good falling tide. We started out in Lake Borgne and got on a couple good Trout bites working along the shore with live shrimp under a cork. There were plenty throwbacks mixed in at first. With a move to another section of the shore we got on some better Trout. They were eating up pretty good then all of a sudden shut off. Our next move was into the Biloxi Marsh where we finished off our limits and headed in. Fun day with some great guys and a nice box filled with 100 Trout, 3 Reds, and 1 Drum.

Bringing the 22 down from NC this weeknd to fish Biloxi Marsh for a few days. Been to Venice before but this will be my first time on that side of the river. Will mostly be looking for reds but hope to catch a few specks for dinner. Is the redfishing better out towards the gulf around the bigger islands or further inland in the smaller bays this time of year? Can't wait to chase some fish and not have to worry about nets! Appreciate any info I can get.

ncred..i would suggest buying a map first or good Gps..there are some changes down here.. the closures of some major water ways will hamper your routes..but you can still get around and catch alot of fish...reds ..you can hit the biloxi marsh area..and for some specks/white trout you go to lake robin area.. allt he places in between are real good right now..good luck and enjoy yourself...if you need anything else holler...

Is the Standard Mapping charts the best thing to get for that side or is there something better. Plan on picking one up for Biloxi Marsh when I get down. I've got a Garmin with the bluecharts. Doesn't have the aerial stuff that is unbelieveable but it was pretty good for the Venice area.

Windy day Friday at the Beach. I had the pleasure of fishing with Chris Hermann, his dad, father in law, and brother in law. The water was high and so was the wind as we left Campo’s. We headed over behind Hopedale. Tried out a little different area not far from where we have been killing them. The bite was steady, but never fast and the Trout were nice sized. Fishing with Campo’s live shrimp under a cork the guys had a great time filling the box up with 90 Trout, 7 Reds, 2 Drum and 1 Flounder.

I did not post a few other trips from this past week, but they were all good times with limits of Trout and lots of Drum and Reds. The Puppy Drum have been thick in the marsh and so have the Flounder with some big doormats hitting the ice. A nice bonus to the Trout.

Fun Saturday and Sunday on the Beach. I had the pleasure of fishing with Omar and Keith from San Diego. Both have fished with me several times before. The weather was perfect, cool, clear and little wind. They were more interested in catching Reds, Drum, and Heads than Trout. They would rather something that fights back. We fished both days in and around Oak River catching lots of fish on live shrimp fished on the bottom in Oak River and under a cork in ponds and lagoons along the shore. Saturday we had a great time catching our limits of Reds and Drum along with 40 Trout. Sunday was more of the same, lots of fish and lots of action. We limited out on Reds along with 10 Drum and 45 Trout. Not to mention the under sized Reds and Drum that were released. They were thick all over the place both days. The later the day got the bigger the fish were. At our last stop Sunday we got on a crazy Redfish bite on some 25”-32” fish. The guys had a blast with these Reds catching and releasing till they were sore. We have had some great trips together, but Omar said this was the best two days of fishing he had ever had. He will be back in a few weeks to do it again.

The fishing in Shell Beach is outstanding and the fall/early winter fishing is on fire. This is some of the best fishing of the year. There are still some open dates so book yours soon.
