Bass Pro Tournament Recap: Pickwick Lake

Now that the pro competition at Pickwick Lake has come to an end, we are officially at the halfway point of the 2022 Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit. Three stops into the tournament, the leaderboard is starting to take shape – and things are looking good for the Blazer Boats family of pros! Join us as we break down everything you need to know about what happened at Pickwick Lake, as well as tournament-wide developments and what the rest of the year has in store!

All year long, swimbaits, vibrating jigs, and drop-shots have reeled in some of the most promising catches of the 2022 Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit. Stop 3 at Pickwick Lake was no exception! In fact, the top 10 anglers all used various jigs and swimbaits in their bid to claim the top spot after four days of fishing in Counce, Tennessee.

Our three pros – Spencer Shuffield, Evan Barnes, and Tyler Woolcott – all enjoyed different degrees of success on Pickwick Lake throughout the event. Even with three stops left still ahead of the championship finale, every catch counts! That much is evident by examining the current standings of the Pro Circuit. We’ll get to that shortly.

Spencer, Evan, and Tyler all came out of the gates firing on all cylinders over the first two days of the competition. Tyler racked up 9 catches totaling 18 pounds and 8 ounces and Evan added in 8 fish of his own, which totaled 25 pounds and 9 ounces. Spencer, who competed through the third day of the event, caught a grand total of 15 fish which sat at 37 pounds and 15 ounces on the scale – good for 37th place overall!

Where does this leave our anglers on the leaderboard halfway through the 2022 season? Between 158 anglers, only 48 spots are reserved for the cream of the crop to advance to the TITLE championship after stop 6 at Lake Champlain in Plattsburgh, New York. Currently, Tyler (73rd) and Evan (29th) are in prime position to finish the Pro Circuit strong enough to qualify for the TITLE.

Additionally, it’s Spencer who currently sits alone at the top of the standings! With 538 points thus far, Spencer is holding a narrow lead over the rest of the top 10. How this plays out over the next four months will remain a key area of our focus.

Blazer Boats would like to thank Counce, Tennessee for its hospitality! Now, we’re already looking ahead to Lake Guntersville on May 12th for stop 4 of the 2022 Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit. Three stops means that our anglers have plenty of time to continue climbing the rankings or, in Spencer’s case, stay atop them! Stay tuned to the Blazer blog for more news as it comes.
