New Year, New Competition: Looking Ahead to the Pro Circuit Kickoff

Time flies when you’re having fun and keeping up with the Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit! It still feels like it was just yesterday that many of Blazer Boats’ amazing pro anglers racked up top-50 finishes in the 2021 Tackle Warehouse TITLE. Now, almost in the blink of an eye, we’re ready to kick off the brand new 2022 pro season in Brookeland, Texas.

Starting on January 27th, our pros will be back at it again in earnest. Brookeland’s Sam Rayburn Reservoir has been a gracious host to a whopping 122 of MLF’s bass fishing tournaments over the past 28 years. Stop 1 of the 2022 Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit will mark number 123.

What’s more exciting than a fresh start to a competition for a talented field of anglers? The 27th season will be kicked off by 158 professional anglers. Of those 158, three are proudly sponsored by Blazer Boats – Spencer Shuffield, Evan Barnes, and Tyler Woolcott. Let’s reflect on how these talented anglers fared in 2021 to see what makes the prospect of a TITLE championship in 2022 so exciting!

Not only did Spencer Shuffield and Evan Barnes both enjoy successful results throughout the year, but they both also qualified for the TITLE event. TITLE is the championship event of each pro circuit that features the top 50 anglers from that season. Evan Barnes (48th) and Spencer Shuffield (31st) ended their 2021 season on a high note by not just competing in the TITLE, but also finishing in the top 50 standings for angler of the year.

Tyler Woolcott fished all six stops of the 2021 pro circuit and finished the year ranked 74th. After a ranking of 40th and a spot in the 2020 TITLE, Tyler is looking forward to getting back where he belongs: competing with the best anglers for a 2022 championship!

One thing to keep an eye on over the course of the 2022 Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit is the introduction of a new rule. On day four of each stop, weights will be zeroed out for all remaining anglers, and standings will be determined based on the last day’s bag.

What does this mean in simpler terms? Anglers will compete to catch the highest weight of bass over the first three days with a hard limit of five fish per day. If anglers catch more than five fish, only the weights of the five heaviest are kept. Then, on the fourth and final day after the lowest ranking anglers have been eliminated, the total weight of caught fish will be reset to zero and whoever reels in the largest bag wins.

The 2022 Pro Circuit officially starts at 8 am ET on Thursday 27th, when all 158 pros take off the Umphrey Family Pavilion. Stay tuned to the Blazer Blog for updates after the event has concluded! We’ll also be sharing previews, recaps, and updates on our pro anglers throughout the season so be sure to check back often. You won’t want to miss this!
