There’s a reason that the 2440 has consistently been considered one of the best models to come out of Blazer Boats. From the family-friendly design to the plentiful amenities throughout, this near shore fishing hybrid is one of the best on the market. Here, we have broken down the key features of the Blazer Bay 2440 that make it stand out against other center console bay boat models.

Front Forward-Facing Bow Seating
Most center console bay boats center on either having a large front deck for fishing or a comfortable lounge for sitting. The bow of the 2440 combines these two ideas into one by having a plentiful deck to fish from and an indented lounge for comfortable seating in a conversation pit style. With the addition of two removable back rests, these seats can be easily converted between facing backward and forward. Alongside an additional cooler seat and plenty of cupholders for the whole family, this space is optimally designed for family-friendly fun without sacrificing pro angler features.

Insulated Fish Boxes
The Blazer Bay 2440 comes with two insulated fish boxes built into the front deck. These containers are designed to keep your fish fresh during a long day on the water. The insulation ensures that any ice or cooling packs you use will stay cold, keeping your fish fresher longer.
When closed, the insulated fish boxes double as deck space. Then, once you have fished your catch, it is easy to step down into the lounge area and access the compartments to store your fresh fish.

D-Metal Frame with Full Windshield
There are two different tower styles for the 2440, both of which feature a D-metal frame. In the image below, the black poles are the D-metal frame, named such due to their rounded outside and flattened inside shape. Instead of being circular tubes, these poles have a “D” shape which helps with connecting accessories and console strength.
The first tower style is pictured below with a rigid fiberglass T-top structure supported by D-metal poles. The top has four built-in speakers and an additional storage compartment for personal items such as cell phones, car keys, and wallets. Along the back of the T-Top, there are several rod holders for additional storage.

The half tower design features a raised second station. This station can be fitted out with a depth finder or additional technology, though this example features the core controls. This second station is accessed by stepping onto a raised step complete with SeaDek padding. The back of the second station features a canvas cover as to provide shade to the lower station, protecting you from the sun after a long day out on the water.

Abundant Storage
The Blazer Bay 2440 has several compartments for storage. On the front deck, there is an anchor box and two large insulated fish boxes. Then, under the seats in the forward facing lounge, there are two rod lockers and an insulated cooler. Finally, in the floor space, there is a multipurpose compartment that can be used to store netting or additional supplies.

Then, along the aft deck, there are two livewells for keeping your catch alive while out on a fishing trip. Between the two livewells is a fold-up bench for additional seating that doubles as deck space when folded down.

Near-Shore Fishing Hybrid
By being a near-shore fishing hybrid bay boat, the 2440 is able to target a wide range of fish up and down the coast. This design enables you to go incredibly shallow with a draft fully loaded of 13 inches while also handling deeper waters with a breeze.
Near shore fishing boats are able to handle several different fishing methods, increasing the amount of aquatic life you can catch. Obviously, the vessel is able to handle traditional casting with plenty of space to store your rods, reels, lures, and additional equipment. However, near shore hybrids are also able to slow troll for live bait including shad, shrimp, and mullet.
The 2440 is especially great at catching mid-sized fish that swim in shallow water such as trout, snook, and redfish, to deep water including fish like snapper, grouper, triggerfish, and cobia. These species are especially plentiful along the Gulf Coast, but can easily be found in any major saltwater environment.
